Alabama, Texas Announce Home-And-Home, Longhorns Move Ohio State Series

Said Byrne "That's a good thing for Alabama football it's a good thing for our community for our state and I think our fans will be really excited for those down the road".

A UCF football game at Texas scheduled for September 9, 2023, has been canceled, closing out the agreement between the two schools. The Longhorns played at Alabama in 1902, and the Crimson Tide traveled to Austin in 1915. The teams also met in the 1948 Sugar Bowl, 1960 Bluebonnet Bowl, 1965 Orange Bowl and 1973 and '82 Cotton Bowls, with the Tide winning their first game of the series in the 2010 BCS national championship game. Depending on how Tom Herman has turned around Texas, these two games could be truly massive. It'll be the Crimson Tide returning the favor in Tuscaloosa on September 9, 2023. The two schools have only met three times on their traditional home fields - the last coming in 1922.

Texas and Ohio State last met in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl in 2009.

As a result, UCF ended up with a rare home-and-home series with the Longhorns. The Crimson Tide defeated the Longhorns 37-21 in that game, but Texas still leads the overall series 7-1-1.

The two teams have combined for 20 AP or Coaches national titles, 1,789 all-time victories, 122 consensus All-Americans (54 unanimous), four Heisman winners and 29 College Football Hall of Fame inductees.

This news has an impact on a few other programs. That game has been canceled.

Texas tossed in an announced home game against UTEP in 2020 to this release.
