AMD has begun sampling second-generation Threadripper processors

AMD Ryzen 7 1700

Second Generation AMD Ryzen Pro chips will come with onboard Radeon Vega graphics

The AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G and AMD Ryzen 3 PRO 2200G are stated to deliver high quality performance on workloads ranging from graphics design to 3D CAD to medical imaging. AMD also offered additional guarantees on supply, so that business would not worry about parts being discontinued mid-way through the life cycle.

AMD have extended both their processor lineup as well as their names, by sticking Pro into the already verbose Ryzen 2 series, and added another letter to pay attention to as well.

In another slide, AMD shows the processor architecture progression of 14nm Ryzen Summit Ridge and 12nm Zen+ Pinnacle Ridge. We've fulfilled this promise over the a year ago across the premium consumer desktop and notebook markets.

"The new enterprise platforms introduced by Dell, HP and Lenovo mark an important milestone for AMD, demonstrating that we are addressing the needs of the premium commercial market from top-to-bottom". As for its graphics processing capabilities, it comes with up to 10 Radeon Vega Cores which should be sufficient to do light to medium graphical work.

The Ryzen PRO mobile and desktop APUs provide security, reliability and performance to address the demands of compute-intensive enterprise-focused workloads. All of which have a 15W TDP, which can be adjusted to up to 25W as per the requirement. AMD has also claimed that the AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 2700U will perform 22 percent better in terms of productivity performance than the 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8550U which is honestly a very bold claim.
