Mourinho defends his record and questions his players' attitude

Jose Mourinho told to sign Chelsea star to overtake Man City

Should Mourinho sign Willian

Manchester City were crowned Premier League champions on Sunday after Manchester United crashed to a shock 1-0 defeat against West Brom as coach Pep Guardiola added a first English title to his three apiece at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

City re-established a 16-point lead at the top of the table on Saturday when they ended a run of three successive defeats with a 3-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur.

United had to at least draw to keep the title race mathematically alive but were stunned at Old Trafford when Jay Rodriguez headed home after the break.

West Brom had a let-off in the first half when the referee, Paul Tierney, gave Craig Dawson the benefit of the doubt for a penalty-box challenge that put Ander Herrera on the floor.

He also played 34 key passes - compared to Pogba's 25 - and provided six assists, which is a total of 40 chances created, still six more than the United man's record.

Mourinho, though, was quick to dampen talk that United had handed the title to City, insisting it is their dominance over the season that secured their coronation.

Yet, even if City's season has already been a majestic success, what with a League Cup triumph and winning the Premier League with a record-equalling five matches to spare, a better measure will only come by the end of next season.

"Today's game, we've got a vital three points for us and it means so much for the football club as it does all the players".

"We couldn't play fast, we couldn't think fast, everything was complicated, " he said. "I saw lots of people in the moon because we won against Manchester City".

Jose Mourinho has revealed he knew his players were going to beaten by West Brom after a week of ill-disciplined training.

Pogba was taken off two minutes before the hour mark. United's threat disappointingly petered out and allowed West Brom to recover. This tiresome performance came just eight days after the 3-2 win against Manchester City at the Etihad, making a stark comparison to the previous match.

His first stop was via his face as a Romelu Lukaku stab struck him, the rebound fell to Alexis Sanchez and his effort was kept out by Foster's left leg.

And though Foster won't be at the World Cup in June, he could yet be in the Premier League with a new club next season. I wouldn't be happy if someone says that I won the title because somebody loses a match.

'City were the best team, sooner or later they would get the points, so no dramas when the best team wins the league'.
