The incident happened at around 10:30 p.m.at Binghamton University in upstate NY.
Binghamton University's official Facebook page: "We are sad to report that a student has died due to a stabbing on campus that occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, April 15".
This was the second slaying of a student this semester. The cancellation announcement appeared on the school's website at 8:00 this morning. Officials say Souza's family has been notified and has requested privacy. The suspect, described as a light-skinned male wearing dark trousers and a dark, Puma hooded sweatshirt, remains at large.
Investigators from multiple agencies interviewed people throughout the night, and determined the stabbing was not a random act.
Haley Anderson was found murdered March 11.
The University is offering a number of services for students, faculty and staff following the incident. According to the New York Post, authorities revealed Anderson - whose death shocked the student body - had been strangled.
Tercero was arrested in Nicaragua and charged with the Westbury, Long Island woman's murder, leaving law enforcement officials tasked with trying to get him extradited to the United States.
