The Browns have signed wide receiver Josh Gordon as an exclusive rights free agent.

Gordon was a rookie in 2012, but he has been suspended so often the last four years because of National Football League suspensions for substance abuse he has not played three seasons. The contract covers only the 2018 season and is worth $790,000. Landry led the National Football League in receptions last season with 112 for 987 yards.

Josh Gordon is officially back with the Browns.

Exclusive rights free agents are players with less than three accrued seasons in the NFL. Gordon, 27, is expected to report for the team's offseason workout program Monday.

Gordon will be a restricted free agent next season, which means he won't strike it rich until 2020 when he will be an unrestricted free agent.

Gordon led the entire National Football League with 1,646 receiving yards in 2013 while catching 87 passes.

The Browns are hoping Gordon can stay clean, contribute and pair with newly signed Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry, who signed a five-year, $75 million contract Friday.

After leading the National Football League in receiving yards in 2013, he has played only 10 games since, including five last season.
