He's bounced between Raw and SmackDown, firing off some of the best promos of his career.
John Cena spoke with ESPN about his challenge to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34. Cena will battle Kane in a singles match. It is a WrestleMania-worthy match that Cena himself has been talking about since at least 2016.
Last week John Cena appeared on Monday Night Raw, and he called out The Undertaker.
"At my core, I'm a fan". I was emotionally moved when the streak was broken. He said that he has thought a lot about last year's WrestleMania 33 match between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns, which Roman won and Undertaker left with his hat, coat, and gloves lying in the ring. Since that time, Undertaker has missed just one WrestleMania - early on, in 1994 - and as Cena looks toward his own legacy, his window at a shot at The Undertaker is closing.
Cena took note of the Undertaker's colorful history with WrestleMania, which began in 1991 at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, and even went so far as to boldly declare that the Undertaker "is WrestleMania". He didn't get a "yes" or a "no" and that's the biggest mistake Undertaker has ever made.
But it hasn't closed yet. "That is WrestleMania", said Cena.
As for fans who might question what Cena vs. Undertaker would actually look like, and what it would mean, Cena makes a simple point to drive it home.
"If it does happen, I don't think anyone who buys a ticket to WrestleMania will walk away throwing the stub up in the air going, 'I wish he wouldn't have showed up.' I hope he does". "I hope he does".
While he is a huge fan of Ronda Rousey and the angle that WWE are now running with her in a match that will see her team with Kurt Angle to take on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, that slot should go to another WWE legend, according to Sullivan.
