Congratulations to Angela Garcia and her husband Sergio, as she gives birth to their first child. A par five, 510 yard hole, Garcia recorded a tournament saving par past year after having to take a drop while two shots behind leader Justin Rose.
Garcia overnight announced the birth of his first child with wife Angela Akins. He later got married to his longtime girlfriend Angela Akins, and joked that he would do it wearing his green jacket.
Garcia had conducted his pre-Augusta press conference from the hospital in Austin, Texas where his wife gave birth, and had to wait nearly 20 hours to welcome his daughter at 1.45am.
And so for a name.... well his 2017 Masters victory is still clearly very much on his mind, and the little lady has been named Azalea, after the 13th at Augusta, which proved to be a critical moment in Sergio's eventual Masters victory.
Garcia, who will defend his title next month, was trailing Justin Rose by two strokes at the time and a slip-up would have probably handed the Englishman victory.
Hours earlier Garcia held a press conference via phone from hospital weeks outs from his defence of his Masters title.
The Garcias had been in the hospital since Tuesday morning, and Sergio even did his Masters champion's teleconference from there.
The Masters gets underway from April 5-9th where Sergio defends the title he won past year by beating Justin Rose in a playoff.
