Katy Perry Ruined ‘American Idol’ Hopeful’s First Kiss “I Wanted It To Be Special”

Katy Perry robs 'American Idol' contestant of 'special' first kiss

The first episode of American Idol was filled with twists and turns but one moment singularly stood out among fans - when Katy Perry, 33, planted a kiss on contestant Benjamin Glaze, 19!

Bryan then asked Glaze, "have you kissed a girl and liked it?" referencing Perry's first big hit. "I wanted to save it for my first relationship", he added about his first kiss. The "unwanted kiss" has been receiving some backlash on social media for its predatory nature, while others considered the teenager lucky for kissing the "I Kissed a Girl" singer. The New York Times interviewed the contestant about his encounter with Perry, and he was not pleased about it. "I know a lot of guys would be like, 'Heck yeah!' But for me, I was raised in a conservative family and I was uncomfortable immediately".

Telling Katy what he does for a living, he explained: "I'm a cashier at an electronic store but I love it because sometimes there's cute girls and they're not going anywhere without saying hi".

Katy Perry's appearance as a judge on American Idol has been laden with controversies. "I have never been in a relationship and I can't kiss a girl without being in a relationship".

"They agreed with me that it didn't really count".

Perry is featured on the new judging panel along with Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

"What, on the cheek?"

Glaze said he's aware some men would enjoy the chance to kiss the popular singer but he didn't. As he went to kiss her other cheek, she kissed him on the lips. Glaze, visibly shocked and smiling, fell to the floor.

The judges cheered and high-fived. "I'm glad she did it because it's a great opportunity to get my music out".

In the shocking exchange between the Perry and the contestant, Glaze yelled in shock, "Katy!" "Well, that's a first".

Even though it aired earlier this week, the audition itself took place last October and this has given Mr. Blaze, who is now 20, some time to consider the event with perspective. The show's Twitter feed also posted a photograph of Mr. Glaze and wrote, "This journey has just begun, Benjamin. A kiss for good luck from @katyperry and you're on your way", the tweet said. "I was a tad bit uncomfortable", Benjamin, who ended up not moving on in the competition, said. But when one American Idol hopeful got the chance to kiss her, he didn't like it.

"It was lip contact versus a romantic situation with someone you care about", he said.
