As businesses have moved away from traditional applications in favour of their cloud variants, the web browser has quietly become the operating system for modern business software and now Mozilla has launched the beta version of Firefox Quantum to meet the demand of today's enterprise workflows. For its latest update, Firefox 59, the changes included aren't quite as drastic, but Mozilla has managed to throw in some further performance gains and additional little features that could come in handy.
Faster page load times (by loading either from the networked cache or the cache on the user's hard drive).
Added features for Firefox Screenshots.
Enhanced WebExtensions API including better support for decentralised protocols and the ability to dynamically register content scripts. Firefox Quantum also allows users to run multiple web apps with enough RAM left over to still run traditional desktop apps such as Word or Photoshop.
