Hundreds of mourners gathered in Srinagar today for the funeral prayers of a militant, reportedly working with the ISIS, who was gunned down in an encounter with security forces last night in South Kashmir's Anantnag district along with two associates.
"The identity of third one is being ascertained", the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, authorities suspended mobile internet service in Anantnag, where the situation is tense. "While the search was going on, the hiding militants fired upon the search party, which was retaliated triggering a gunfight that resulted in killing of three militants".
Fearing protests in Srinagar, authorities ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the city, while restrictions were imposed in sensitive areas.
"Restrictions will be imposed in the police station areas of Maharajgunj, Safakadal, Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar and Soura as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order", a senior official of the administration told India Today.
"Apparently militants hurled a grenade on a guard post of 18 bn (battalion) CRPF (at Damhaal Hanjipora) in Kulgam", Kashmir Zone Police had said on its official Twitter page.
The police claimed recovery of three assault rifles and some ammunition from the gunfight site.
He said that after a brief encounter, three terrorists were killed.
