Carrie Underwood is doing what she can to help an old friend, an Oklahoma police officer who is suffering from severe injuries.
Underwood made the donation under her married name of Carrie Fisher to the campaign on Saturday (Feb. 17).
Justin Durrett lost control of his truck while on his way to work on 11 February (18), when he was thrown from the vehicle as it rolled off the road, with the truck eventually landing on top of the cop.
He suffered a broken neck, countless staples on his head, and a bruised spine, and he can not feel anything from the chest down.
He was subsequently hospitalized in the intensive care unit, where he is continuing to receive treatment, but his extended stay is causing him to rack up the medical bills, and a GoFundMe campaign has since been launched to help him pay off the debt.
The country star and the police chief have a longtime friendship that extends back to childhood, with the two attending the same church as kids.
The generous donation all helped push the fund to $12,965 as of Tuesday.
