Nokia 8, Nokia 5 prices reportedly dropped by up to Rs 8000

HMD Global, the company that holds the rights for the Nokia brand, has slashed the prices of two of its smartphones in India - the Nokia 5 and the flagship Nokia 8.

The new pricing for the Nokia 8 and Nokia 5 will be effective from Thursday. The Nokia 5, for the 3GB RAM variant, which was earlier launched at Rs 13,499, is now available at Rs 12,499 in India. While it was launched at Rs. 36,999, the Nokia 8 will be now sold for just Rs. 28,999. The price cut should be levied on offline sales as well.

With the launch of the new Nokia 2018 range drawing closer, HMD Global has chose to give a price cut to the original Nokia 5 in India. The retailer announced the price cut via its social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter). The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, which is paired with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage of phone is 64GB expandable upto 256 Gb via microSD card. Up at the front, it houses an 8MP autofocus camera also with f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree wide field-of-view lens.

Recently, the company also released the latest Android 8.0 Oreo update for this smartphone. The IP54 splashproof Nokia 8 comes with 3.5mm ADJ headphone jack (3-mics) and USB 3.1 Type-C. Sensors on board include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, and a proximity sensor. Compared to other flagship devices, the Nokia 8 offers similar performance but comes with the standard 16:9 aspect ratio.

To recap, Nokia 5 features a 5.2-inch 2.5D curved HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. It is one of the most affordable Snapdragon 835-powered smartphones in the Indian market.

The primary dual-lens camera includes 13-megapixels (Colour + OIS) along with 13-megapixels (Mono) sensors with dual-tone Flash with an aperture of f/2.0, 76.9˚, PDAF and IR range finder. There is a 13MP selfie camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture, 78.4-degree wide-angle, and PDAF. ZEISS powers the camera department. The phone comes with the "Bothie" mode which allows you to capture or broadcast using both the front and back cameras simultaneously. Nokia 8 is further equipped with OZO Audio tech that provides a spatial 360-degree audio recording. The Nokia 8 ships with a 3090 mAh battery has 64 GB of internal storage.
