Spirit Airlines announced Wednesday it will begin a non-stop route from the Atlantic City Airport to the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport and will resume seasonal flights to Atlanta.
Atlantic City has been one of Spirit's hubs-the airline has flown nonstop flights from the airport for the last 27 years.
The route, which will fly four times a week, will increase the number of locations the budget airline travels to out of the Egg Harbor Township-based airport. Currently, Spirit operates 10 flights to six cities daily out of Atlantic City.
Officials at ACY say they are excited to bring this new service to the area and hope it will encourage more travelers to take advantage of everything the airport has to offer.
