The name of the dog's owner was not disclosed.
"This situation is horrific and very bad", Ouachita Parish police chief president Scotty Robinson said. Robinson says there is an ordinance in place for vicious animals and pets, but it only goes so far. The dog was being boarded at the Happy Hound Hotel on Smith Street in West Monroe, LA. "Please hold her daughters SARA AND JADAH IN YOUR PRAYERS AND HER BOYS LEVI AND GLEN, I love you so much", one of her family members expressed their sorrow through a Facebook post after Ray's tragic death. "That's why we see a lot of trouble with Pit Bull Terriers because they are [such] a people pleasing breed, that they do whatever their people want them to do", Choate said.
Deputies said this is an on-going investigation and they cannot release any specific details on what happened.
