A new official trailer for the dark comedy Flower has sprouted online along with a brand new film poster for the 2018 theatrical release. Flower, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival previous year, has the impressive cast of Zoey Deutch, Kathryn Hahn, Adam Scott, Tim Heidecker, Joey Morgan, Dylan Gelula, and Maya Eshet.
In the end, Flower buckles underneath its attempt at balancing its plethora of tones, ultimately abandoning the emotional journey of its central character in favor of a tidier ending.
I'm a big fan of Deutch, but it looks like she's still looking for the role that will make the most of her talents. In the video above, we see her and her mom (Kathryn Hahn) welcome her new boyfriend's (Tim Heidecker) mentally unbalanced son Luke (Joey Morgan) from rehab to live with the family. With Luke and her sidekicks Kala (Dylan Gelula) and Claudine (Maya Eshet) in tow, Erica acts out by exposing a dark secret of high-school teacher Will (Adam Scott), with perilous results; their teenage kicks become a catalyst for growing up in unexpected and unpredictable ways.
Director and co-writer Max Winkler's indie comedy, Flower, had a long road to getting its greenlight, first making a mark as a project back in 2012 on the Black List of the industry's best unproduced scripts. The film opens March 16th and also stars Kathryn Hahn, Tim Heidecker, and Adam Scott.
