"Ted Carroll (who formed Chiswick Records) made the sad announcement via his FB page, having heard from Doug Smith that Fast Eddie passed peacefully in hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia".
The rock band announced the news on Wednesday on their official Facebook page, sharing that Clarke - who was known as "Fast" Eddie Clarke - died in the hospital, where he was being treated for pneumonia.
The final founding member of Motorhead, guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke, has died at the age of 67.
Dee added: "Oh my fucking god, this is bad news, the last of the three amigos".
Clarke last appeared on stage with his former bandmates Lemmy and drummer Phil Taylor in 2014 (although only he and Lemmy performed), a year before both of their deaths. So this is a complete shock.
"Fast Eddie.keep roaring, rockin' and rollin' up there as goddamit man, your Motörfamily would expect nothing less!" he concluded. I was looking forward to seeing him in the United Kingdom this summer when we come around with The Scorps.
Fellow Motorhead guitarist Phil Campbell also reacted to Clarke's death.
"He will be remembered for his iconic riffs and was a true rock n roller". After leaving the group, Clarke formed his own band called Fastway with the bassist from UFO, Pete Way. Now Lem and Philthy can jam with Eddie again, and if you listen carefully I'm sure you'll hear them, so watch out!
Clarke played on Motörhead's 1977 debut, and on their next four releases between 1979 and 1982, including classic album Ace of Spades.
"My thoughts go out to Eddie's family and close ones".
