The King County Prosecutor's Office has formally declined to file sexual assault charges against the rapper Nelly that stemmed from an incident in Auburn in October, the lawyer for the victim said Wednesday night.
The alleged victim told authorities that Nelly raped her on his tour bus, which was parked in a Walmart parking lot in Washington.
The alleged victim refused to cooperate with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, which made it hard to go forward and charge the rapper with a crime, TMZ reported. "She will not testify further in a criminal proceeding against him".
Which means it is perhaps unsurprising that the King County Prosecutor's Office has now decided that it can not continue with any case against Nelly.
And now, according to TMZ.com, the case has been thrown out of court after the alleged victim refused to testify against the musician in court. "She wants to go back to school and to graduate". One day, maybe our world will change and thirty women will not be needed to (eventually) speak out against a celebrity who has hurt them in order to be believed.
Nelly's rep says the claims are a complete "fabrication". "Our initial investigation clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness". "People are saying awful things already". I am confident, once this scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges. She can not handle this. "Nelly is prepared to address and pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation". She is about to break.
