You have targets. Also if Manchester City has many points over you, you have an important target to try to get into the top four and play in the Champions League.

"We started the pre-season with the same players, the same players are playing nearly always and for sure you have to pay".

"After 16 games, if you lose four it means you never got started".

After Chelsea's fourth league defeat of the season, Antonio Conte says it's "impossible" to think Chelsea are still in the title hunt.

The loss at the London Stadium was the champions' fourth in their first 16 league games. Then at 1-0 down, we tried but you have to know in this situation when you play against West Ham in a London derby, it is very hard.

"But then when you lose to Palace at the bottom and now lose again against West Ham, which is in a bad position (19th at kickoff).it means you are not in the title race".

"He's only being realistic as to how he sees it", the former Arsenal defender said on the BBC's Final Score programme.

Slamming Conte for using fatigue as an excuse, he said: "In terms of fixtures, they had it easier a year ago with no Champions League".

The England global was quick to insist that he would not use the jammed fixture list as an excuse for the disappointing result.

Conte cited fatigue in the aftermath of the defeat to David Moyes' side with the Italian making three changes to the team that drew against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.

Burnley are level on points with the two north London heavyweights after Scott Arfield scored in a 1-0 home win over Watford, who had Marvin Zeegelaar sent off for a studs-up foul on Steven Defour.

"We allowed them to get the early goal, which was a poor one on our behalf, especially as we have been tight of late". We just didn't play our stuff. "Yes but where is the time to kill the players in training sessions?" Our passing was off, and we didn't create as much as we have been. It's very disappointing to come off and feel like that.

'I'm not one to sit here and make excuses, ' Cahill said.
