A jury just reached their decision for a former priest on trial for the 1960 murder of Irene Garza. They were visibly emotional and embraced following news of Feit's fate, which ends a almost six-decade wait for justice in the death of the 25-year-old.

The school teacher's body was found in a canal in April 1960. After she was reported missing, her body was discovered in a canal five days later, and an autopsy report concluded she'd been beaten, raped and asphyxiated.

Feit, who showed little emotion when the verdict was read, asked that the jury decide his punishment.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys gave their closing arguments Thursday in the case of 85-year-old John Feit. She was last seen at confession at Sacred Heart Church in McAllen.

Feit's attorney argues there's insufficient evidence to convict the former priest.
