Just as the third version of the game engine spawned Call of Juarez and the fifth version brought Dead Island in 2011, Dying Light is first game to show off Chrome Engine 6 - Hellraid being this year's only other Chrome 6 title. "Bad Blood offers intense and dynamically changing online matches that creatively blend the distinction between PvP and PvE style of gameplay, while retaining the core of what made Dying Light and worldwide success". They can play the expansion early and share their thoughts, knowing their feedback will have a major influence on Bad Blood's development.
Developer Techland said Bad Blood comes "as a response to numerous fan requests for a PvP approach to Dying Light, and the recent popularity of the Battle Royale genre among the survival horror fans", which presumably is a nod to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Fortnite.

In the expansion, teams of six will be "dropped into a hostile, zombie-infested area". However, as is the case with most PvP games, alliances can be short lived, as players must pay for their seats on the evacuation chopper separately. Each player has to evacuate before the night falls. Use your parkour skills to swiftly traverse the city, scavenging for weapons that will give you an edge over your opponents.
The only way out is the extraction chopper, but nobody rides for free, apparently.
Players are advised to group together in order to defeat "zombie bosses" to steal more samples. After a while, an evacuation vehicle will arrive on the scene, but it has limited seating.
Dying Light will be getting a standalone, multiplayer expansion in 2018, Techland announced Thursday.
