Speaking in Kano on Thursday, Buhari also appealed to Nigerians to be patient with his administration, promising that things will be better soon. For the President to continue to blame the PDP for his failure to perform nearly three years into his mandate, shows how ill-prepared he is for the leadership of this great country. "So we have to make sacrifice to prepare the youth for the future", Buhari said.
"When I was the military head of state, I arrested many people and jailed them for alleged corruption and in the end, I also ended in jail".
He said the administration would continue to accord priority attention to education so as to empower the youth, to enable them contribute their quota toward the development of the country.
"The country's wealth was squandered by those that ruled the nation at that period of time due to corruption and when we came, we said things must change for the better", the President said. "Whatever I become in my life, I always consult the Kano Emirate Council".
The "commissioning" of the release of the prisoners took place at the Kurmawa Central Prison in Kano.
The 500 inmates were either pardoned or set free upon the payment of fines by the Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. With him are Governor Ganduje, right and Lt.
"I am very grateful to God and the people of Kano for the complete trust you have in me", he said.
Kano State Governor, Ganduje during the President's visit announced the naming of Giginyu specialist hospital after President Buhari which is to be called Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital. He said the funds covered completion of all unfinished structure and provision of equipment and other hospital facilities to the two hospitals.
