According to the company, the jobs have been eliminated as the company prepares to open new offices in Charlotte and London.
Krispy Kreme says the move comes as it continues to transform into a global company.
Ninety employees at Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corporation were fired on Wednesday in Winston-Salem. We told employees that as we chart our path forward, we know that the structure we have today is not the structure we will need to accomplish this ambitious mission.
In a statement, Krispy Kreme said it will maintain its headquarters in Winston-Salem, but will create "new work space that reflect our ambition", including Charlotte and London in 2018.
"In order to best position our talent and infrastructure to enable that growth, we are making necessary, but hard, changes to our business", the company said in a statement. We will also continue to operate our mix plant and our equipment manufacturing business in Winston-Salem.
Effected employees will be getting severance, bonuses, health and outplacement benefits.
The company's corporate headquarters will remain in Winston-Salem.
