Ball helped the Lakers to a 127-109 win over the Nuggets by scoring 11 points with 16 rebounds and 11 assists.
Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and head coach Mike Malone were ejected with 6:20 remaining in the second quarter of Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The 16 rebounds are a career-best for Ball, who also blocked two shots and committed just two turnovers on the night. Randle also accounted for seven rebounds and five assists.
Ball joined elite company with legendary point guard Magic Johnson as the only two players in the team's prestigious history to have multiple triple-doubles in their rookie season.
No other rookie has even had a game with as many as 14 rebounds this season, and it's been almost 18 years since a rookie guard had at least 16 rebounds.
The Lakers finished the night with seven double-digit scorers, as Randle scored 24 points off the bench and Jordan Clarkson added 18. By halftime of Sunday's game, Randle had already logged 17 minutes, during which time the Lakers had outscored the Nuggets by 26 points.
Malone was infuriated when Mott didn't call a foul on the Lakers for contact while Jokic battled underneath the basket.
