Bills' Nathan Peterman to start at QB against Chargers

Buffalo Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman throws a pass to Nick O'Leary for a touchdown during the second half Sunday

Tyrod Taylor benched by the Bills, 2 days after being told he was still the starter

Peterman saw action in relief of Taylor in Buffalo's 47-10 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 10, and Week 11 will mark the first start of his career.

Peterman makes debut: The Bills played a meaningless fourth quarter for the second week in a row, but this one at least led to the National Football League debut of Bills rookie quarterback Nathan Peterman. The Bills trailed the Saints 40-3 when Taylor was pulled, and cheers broke out at New Era Field when the switch was made.

"I'm comfortable making a calculated risk to try and get us where we need to go", said McDermott.

The Buffalo Bills have benched Tyrod Taylor in favor of Nathan Peterman. At least Peterman has Kelvin Benjamin and Charles Clay in the lineup, something Taylor didn't have the luxury of for much of the season.

Peterman, the Bills fifth-round pick out of Pitt, completed 7 of 10 passes for 79 yards and a late touchdown to Nick O'Leary.

McDermott in August squashed speculation that Peterman could be the starter by standing by Taylor after he completed 48 percent of his passes for 100 yards, two interceptions and a 27.9 passer rating in three preseason games.
