Keith Barron Dead: 'Duty Free' And 'Take Me Home' Actor Dies, Aged 83

Actor Keith Barron has died at the age of 83, it has been confirmed.

The TV actor, who also had roles in Coronation Street and Where the Heart Is, passed away after a short illness.

Keith Barron has died aged 83.

"He had a long and varied career which included The Nigel Barton Plays by Dennis Potter of which he was immensely proud".

Set in Spain, Duty Free ran for three series from 1984 until 1986 with Barron starring as gruff northerner David Pearce alongside Gwen Taylor as his wife Amy.

More recently, Barron returned to screens in ITV's DCI Banks as well as roles in Holby City, Doctors, Benidorm, Heartbeat, and Coronation Street.

Barron's final TV appearance was previous year on DCI Banks where he played Arthur Banks for ten episodes.

Fans will also remember his role as Bradley in 1975's The Land That Time Forgot.

He also had appearances in A Touch Of Frost and The Odd Man.
