George Takei Says He Was Playing 'Naughty' Grandpa In Cringeworthy Interview

The actor recently denied allegations of sexual assault against him weeks after he revealed on Howard Stern's show that he had sexually assaulted a man.

Although George still maintains his innocence, the 80-year-old acknowledged how distasteful the bit was and apologized for making light of a serious situation.

"Many have raised concern over a back-and-forth between Howard Stern and myself, where we joked about me touching men during my Star Trek days fifty years ago", Takei wrote on Facebook. "Out of context, I agree that the joke was distasteful, and I'm very sorry he and I made fun out of a serious matter".

On Monday, the actor apologized for the comments he made on-air, explaining that he was playing a "naughty gay grandpa" caricature, something he now regrets. "But I want to be clear: I have never forced myself upon someone during a date". "It was always by mutual consent. I see now that that it has come across poorly in the awkward sketch, and I apologise for playing along with Howard's insinuation", it added.

Huh. What do YOU think of this apology??

Takei's comments on Howard Stern's show last month is relevant because of how similar it was to the account of his accuser, Scott Brunton, who claims that he fell asleep in Takei's home and awoke to his privates being touched.

"By way of background", he said, "when I criticized Putin's anti-LGBT policies publicly, Russian bots attacked my FB page relentlessly, and we had to develop special security measures and ban all traffic from within the Russian Federation and the Ukraine". So I sat down in that and leaned my head back and I must have passed out. Get comfortable.' And I said, 'No.

"I want to assure you all that I am as shocked and bewildered at these claims as you must feel reading them", Takei wrote. After a period of silence and Takei cracking "uh oh", he said, "Some people are kind of skittish, or maybe ... afraid, and you're trying to persuade". You're in no condition to drive.' I said, 'I don't care I want to go.' So I managed to get my trousers up and compose myself and I was just shocked.
