With the possibility of 3 feet or more of new snow by Wednesday night, officials at Mt. Baker Ski Area say they're opening Thursday. However Rock said in a prepared statement, the 10-day weather forecast looks favorable and he expects they will be able to make enough snow to open on a limited basis for Thanksgiving.
Tuesday morning, the resort's website announced it would open with three lifts running on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
Crystal warns that the coverage on the Downhill and Queens run is still a little thin at the base, so you may not want to use brand new equipment.
Stevens Pass Mountain Resort had yet to announce an opening date although officials have said Friday is the area's tentative opening day.
Meanwhile, neighbors to the north are getting snow, too. After opening on November 26th a year ago, Park City Mountain recorded 455 inches of snow at the Jupiter snow stake about 100 inches of the seasonal average.
