American Legion Post 209 honors fallen service members during flag disposal ceremony

The check and a list of donors will be presented to the Veterans on November 11, 2017 at 9am when the American Legion and the Auxiliary gather to hang a wreath on the monument to honor those who gave their life for our country. The ceremony was held under the sponsorship of the American Legion Post 221 in Tehachapi, and included citizens and fellow veterans of all ages and military branches who paid tribute to those who have or are now serving in the Armed Forces.

American Legion Post 150 hosted an hour-long ceremony that included the raising of the American flag, placing flowers in honor of those who died in service and a three-gun volley before the playing of "Taps". Because of the weather, the ceremony took place inside the American Legion building.

In his remarks, Post 150 commander Virgil Boyer said the blood and sweat of war taught lessons "of goal, sacrifice, tolerance, bravery and discipline", calling them the "foundation stones upon which a great nation is built".
