The European Tour season concludes this week at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai and three men are in the running to become Europe's number one.
"Sorry to say that I will miss the DP World Tour Championship due to my rib injury", Stenson, who won the Race to Dubai past year, wrote, in part, in a post on Instagram.
On the three-way race for the Race to Dubai title, Garcia pleaded ignorance about the possibilities.
Garcia can triumph through the backdoor if he wins the DP World Tour Championship, Rose finishes fifth or lower and Fleetwood finishes outside of the top 20. Garcia could have applied some pressure if he'd teed it up in the previous two events, the $7 million Turkish Airlines Open and $7.5 Nedbank Golf Challenge, but he was too busy. Obviously both Tommy and Justin are playing really well so I'm not expecting them to finish 40th or 50th. After 15 years with TaylorMade, Garcia is testing Callaway clubs for his last event of the year in preparation for changing equipment deals.
Justin Rose won the European Tour's Order of Merit back in 2007 with victory at the Volvo Masters at Valderrama.
"To be totally honest, I see a two percent chance of me winning The Race to Dubai, but I'm fine with it". The world #19 was 2nd at the WGC-Mexico Championship, 2nd at the Shenzhen International, fourth at the US Open and T6th recently at the Italian Open.
Garcia is in the penultimate group with Jon Rahm at 12.30pm local time. "Excited for these last few weeks of the year", he enthused.
The DP World Tour Championship is played at the stunning Jumeirah Estates on the Earth Course; a lengthy 7675-yard, Par 72 stretch.
Last week's victor Branden Grace tees it up this week in a very strong field including all of the European Tour's biggest names barring Rory McIlroy and Henrik Stenson.

When Garcia won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic last February at the Emirates Golf Course, with a three-stroke win over Henrik Stenson, he had said: "Hopefully it will be the beginning of a great year".
While the PGA Tour Champions is catching flak for its playoff system, one that enabled Kevin Sutherland's sole victory to defeat Bernhard Langer's marvelous seven-win campaign, there won't be any controversy involved with the European Tour's Race to Dubai coronation this week.
