Report: FBI May Be Investigating Planned Parenthood Over Dealings in Aborted Fetuses

The FBI is looking into an issue with Planned Parenthood - news that might shed an unwanted spotlight on the organization.

There are 2 comments on the Fox News story from 6 hrs ago, titled Planned Parenthood docs requested from Senate by Federal Bureau of Investigation, signaling possible criminal probe.

Grassley said at the time that his committee had uncovered enough evidence in its final investigative report to show abortion providers had transferred tissue and body parts from aborted fetuses to firms for use in research by charging dollar amounts above their actual costs.

In 2015, a video was leaked of an activist for the Center of Medical Progress in discussion with a Planned Parenthood official, Dr. Deborah Nucatola.

"We welcome the Justice Department's investigation of Planned Parenthood", said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.

"Planned Parenthood strongly disagrees with the recommendations of the Senate Republican staff to refer this matter to the Justice Department, especially in light of the fact that investigations by three other Congressional committees, and investigations in 13 states including a Grand Jury in Texas, have all shown that Planned Parenthood did nothing wrong", Ms. Singiser told The Hill.

"These accusations are baseless, and a part of a widely discredited attempt to end access to reproductive health care at Planned Parenthood".

The Center for Medical Progress alleges Planned Parenthood was illegally profiting from the exchange of limbs and organs, and the House and Senate launched investigations into the nonprofit's practice. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), stated the FBI should conduct an investigation.

Catherine Glenn Foster, CEO and president of Americans United for Life, echoed Mancini, saying she was "encouraged to see signs of an investigation moving forward". "Only a thorough investigation by the Justice Department will ensure that women and their unborn children are protected from the risky motivations behind this criminal conduct", she said.
