McLaren's new one-off, gold-covered 720S supercar

One-off Mc Laren 720S revealed at Dubai motor show

MSO crafted a bespoke satin black and gold McLaren 720S for Middle Eastern customer

The 2017 Dubai Motor Show is in full swing, and McLaren has chosen this opportunity to unveil the latest creation from its bespoke division, MSO (McLaren Special Operations). This 720S gets a unique paint scheme that has been personalised according the owner's wishes, with a quote from company founder, Bruce McLaren, painted on the auto in Arabic script.

The product of the MSO Bespoke programme, which allows customers "almost limitless" customisation options, the 720S is finished in satin black paint with gold-coloured wheels, with matching interior trim. The gearshift paddles and steering wheel gain a gold-coloured satin finish that's repeated on the inside of each door. The remaining soft touch surfaces are upholstered in alcantara and leather.

A plaque inside the vehicle identifies it as a 1 of 1 MSO commission, a fact also communicated by the unique rear wing that bears part of a quote by McLaren founder, Bruce McLaren which reads "Life is measured in achievement, not in years alone". It would be a waste of life to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone'. But the highlight of the auto is the rear wing that features a famous Bruce McLaren quote painted in gold Arabic script stylized to resemble the Dubai skyline. As confirmation that this particular 720S configuration won't be repeated, the sill has been branded with a plaque displaying the make, model and a build number showing the vehicle is "one of one". It took 30 hours to complete. Other highlights of the exterior include the car's gold-painted alloy wheels and various carbon-fibre components like the rear diffuser, roof panel and front splitter, among others. This 720S will continue to source power from the same 4.0 V8 twin-turbocharged engine which is capable of accelerating from 0-200 kmph in just 7.8 seconds, all the way to a top speed of 341 kmph. The auto is on display as McLaren's star exhibit at the 2017 Dubai motor show which kicked off today.
