But Mane missed the end of Liverpool's last campaign with a knee injury and was also away in January for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Sadio Mane is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring injury on worldwide duty, Liverpool FC can confirm.

"It has now been confirmed that he picked up an injury during that fixture that could keep him out of action for up to six weeks", the statement said.

Sportsmail looks at three different ways that Klopp's Liverpool could line up without their key player.

That will see Jurgen Klopp be without Mane for games against the likes of United, Tottenham, West Ham, Sevilla and possibly Chelsea too.

He says only Mane, Mohamed Salah and Philippe Coutinho are the sources of goals in the Reds team.

Liverpool, now sitting seventh in the Premier League, can ill-afford to drop points against the rest of the "big six" in such a tight race for the Champions League places, never mind the Premier League title itself.

Liverpool finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to secure a return to the Champions League.

Who will cover for Mane?

Last season Mane's absence left Liverpool void of pace, but Klopp moved to ensure that will not happen again with the arrivals of Salah and Oxlade-Chamberlain. Without him, that drops to six wins from 13 with 1.6 goals and 1.7 points per game.
