Clement says Swansea will not be in relegation battle

Swansea City manager Paul Clement has rejected suggestions that his side are in a relegation battle despite sitting in the bottom three after seven games of the season.

Paul Clement's side simply have to deliver the first home win of the season to silence any talk of yet another relegation battle, because at the moment -judging from what we've seen so far, you can't blame us fans for expecting another battle near the bottom of the Premier League table.

"[The Championship play-off final at] Wembley was a must-win game, but not Swansea".

'I don't take much notice of what others say, I focus on getting the best out of the players and focusing on the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Clement said: "I think this is a team that will get better and better as the season goes on".

We had more changes than I envisaged in the summer", as top scorer Fernando Llorente left to join Tottenham Hotspur, "we have players who have not played so regularly in the previous year like Renato [Sanches] and Wilfried [Bony].

Swansea host newly-promoted Huddersfield Town at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday. "But it made no difference to us, we knew what we had to do then and we know what we have to do now", he told reporters. "I expect them to show an improvement and I'm confident we will be better in the second half of the season than the first".
