'Game Of Thrones' star Jason Momoa criticised after rape joke video resurfaces

Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa slammed for rape joke, in wake of Weinstein sex scandal

'Game of Thrones' actor Jason Momoa apologizes for 'distasteful' rape joke

An old clip of Jason Momoa claiming that he loves his role on Game Of Thrones as it allows him to "rape handsome women" has resurfaced.

Momoa then jokes: "And rape handsome women and have them fall in love with me, you know what I mean?"

The video in question showed the actor saying he enjoyed working on the hit HBO show "Game of Thrones" because he got to "rape handsome women". Momoa is on stage with a number of his co-stars, including Peter Dinklage and Emilia Clarke, and is commenting on the kind of extreme violence featured in the show.

The clip of the Justice League actor resurfaced after a number of recent discussions of sexual harassment by men in Hollywood.

"But as far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that there's so many things you can do, like rip someone's tongue out of their throat and get away with it ... and rape lovely women".

Jason Momoa has found himself in hot water for inappropriate comments he made during a 2011 Comic-Con panel.

But fans argued over whether Momoa was being unfairly targeted for a years-old comment, or if he deserved to be vilified for contributing to a culture that's comfortable joking about assault.

We're pleased to see that he has owned up for his comments and offered an apology, but the comment shouldn't have been made in the first place.

It comes as Momoa's co star in the upcoming Justice League film, Ben Affleck, admitted he "acted inappropriately" and apologised to One Tree Hill's Hilarie Burton. "I prefer my women to enjoy sex", he said.
