The disease had claimed 24 lives since January, she said, rubbishing media reports that said dengue was rampant in the state.
Claiming that "misinformation" was floating around on dengue, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that there was "just" 30 deaths arising out of dengue over the last seven-to-eight months. The people of the state are being victims of improper treatment while the doctors are also at a fix as they can not mention Dengue on the prescription even if it is identified.
She also accused some private laboratories of misguiding patients and creating panic among them.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will host a dinner in honour of Federation Internationale de Football Association president Gianni Infantino, who will be in the city for the U-17 World Cup final to be held at the Salt Lake Stadium on October 28.
There was no scarcity of platelets in the state, Banerjee said. There were no fatalities, she said.
Ms Banerjee urged people to go for blood tests if unwell.
A high-level meeting was held at the State Secretariat with officials from various departments, including Health, Municipal Affairs, Panchayat and others, to take stock of the situation.
