Adityanath he said that Chandnath will be remembered for his rich social work.

Alwar (Rajasthan), September 17: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Rajasthan's Alwar, Mahant Chandnath, has passed away at the age of 61. "My deepest condolences", he said in his message.

Thousands of Naths followers paid tributes to the departed soul.

Chandnath took his last breath on Saturday at around 11:45 Delhi's Apollo Hospital. He was being fed through a tube in his stomach. "He died around 12:40 am", he said. "It just tore through his body but his toughness made him battle it for much longer", he said.

Chandnath had won the Rajasthan's Alwar seat in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections after defeating Congress candidate and former union minister Jitendra Singh.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje also expressed condolences to the bereaved family members, saying it is an irreparable loss to to her and the entire BJP family.

Chandnath headed the Nath sect of Hinduism and was also the chancellor of the Mast Nath University.
