"I have always thought of Fellaini as a player with special qualities".
The 29-year-old is yet to start a game for United this season, but the midfielder is a firm favourite of head coach Jose Mourinho, who has been keen to stress Fellaini's importance to the team over the last couple of weeks.
However, according to the Mirror's Simon Mulluck, Mourinho views Fellaini as an important member of his squad and will enter talks with the midfielder over a potential new deal to keep him at Old Trafford beyond the summer.
Despite Fellaini not having started a league game this season, he certainly offers a different option upfront with his physical nature and aerial presence.
But as his 30th birthday is fast approaching, that could be a problem for Fellaini as the club have a policy of only offering one-year extensions to players of that age.
The United boss says he "feels weaker" when the Belgian is missing from his squad and blocked his proposed moved to Galatasaray in the summer after the Turkish side had agreed terms with the player, suggesting that he may be willing to bend the rules again to get Fellaini a longer contract.
