The 27-year-old Mexican driver will continue to partner Frenchman Esteban Ocon in 2018, the team said at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Force India has announced that Sergio Perez will remain part of its driver line-up for the 2018 Formula 1 season after signing a contract extension.
"Staying with Sahara Force India was always my priority", said Perez, who had been linked with other teams including Renault who have now opted for Spaniard Carlos Sainz. He has been with Force India since joining in 2014, and secured two podium finishes past year.
Sergio Perez will race with Force India again next season, it has been confirmed.
The friction began at the Canadian GP, prior to Baku, when Ocon was exasperated at his team's decision not to let him overtake Perez. "It's a team that has allowed me to show my talents as a driver", Perez said. I'm proud of everything we have already achieved together and I think there is more to come.
It remains to be seen whether Perez will remain with Force India beyond 2018, as it is likely positions at Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull will open up at that time.
The deal will take Perez, who joined the Silverstone-based outfit in 2014 after a single unhappy season at former champions McLaren, into a fifth successive season with the team. "Since joining us in 2014, he has matured to become one of the quickest and most consistent drivers on the grid", said Force India team principal and managing director Vijay Mallya.
Force India finished in their best-ever position of fourth in the constructors' championship past year, and are on course to repeat it in 2017. "In the end it was an easy decision to continue our journey together".
"Alongside Esteban, retaining Sergio gives us stability going into next season and one of the most exciting driver pairings in Formula 1", he added.
