Chelsea's N'Golo Kante: 'Special' to make Champions League debut

Chelsea 'have to be ready' for this Arsenal star warns N'Golo Kante

N’Golo Kante believes Alexandre Lacazette will be a threat to Chelsea

Chelsea are aiming to defend their title in the Premier League, although this season it already looks like they're set to face much tougher competition than they did last season, with both Manchester United and Manchester City looking ominous in their opening games, and the Premier League once again showing any side is capable of beating any other on their day. "Last season was incredible for me and the club but that was the past and we need to focus on the future".

It was a special moment for the 26-year-old, who used to watch the competition on the television back home in France as a child.

"I don't feel like the player of the year". I don't really care about it when I play. However, he is understandably wary of the threats his opponents pose, it's one of the reasons why he's the player he is.

"This is what we need to do, and I don't feel like the player of the year".

"We spent a good season together".

"You know I don't play every game but when I have time [on the pitch] it is good to score".

"In the FA Cup final we were close to winning, but after the red card [for Victor Moses], it was more hard for us". I know we won 13 games in a row.

Champions League success has always been a priority at Chelsea, and the club will want to prove they can mix it with the best in the world - especially after a season away from the competition last time out.

Arsenal have beaten Chelsea in each of the last two meetings between the teams - winning 2-1 in the FA Cup final in May, then triumphing on penalties in last month's Community Shield - but Kante played down the notion that the Gunners have figured out a way to consistently get the better of their London rivals.

Davide Zappacosta marked his full Chelsea debut with a goal, mis-hitting a cross from the right flank into the net from 25 yards, but fellow deadline day signing Danny Drinkwater sat out the match with a calf problem picked up in training on Sunday. We need to win. He is hoping they can do at Chelsea what they did so remarkably at the King Power Stadium in 2016 together.
