In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, Nevadans are its highest gas prices since 2015, according to the latest survey conducted by AAA on August 9.
In Nevada prices jumped by double-digits, settling at an average of $2.81 per gallon of regular gasoline.
The storm, which temporarily shut down 25 percent of USA refining capacity as it flooded Houston, drove the national average price of gasoline up almost 35 cents.
"An incident as severe as Harvey will have a big impact on the global supply chain", Blasky said in a news release. "Combined with strong summer travel demand, motorists in California are seeing the highest gas prices in two years".
In its latest statewide survey of gas prices, AAA said the average price of gas throughout Northern California was $3.14 a gallon, up 18 cents from last month.
A year ago, the average price in Modesto was $2.59, and the USA average $2.18.
San Francisco drivers now are paying the highest prices in the nation at $3.30 per gallon, AAA said. "As pipelines and refineries return to their full operations, prices should start to decrease later in the month".
"Gas prices historically fall after Labor Day, so drivers should expect to pay lower prices unless there's another disruption in the oil market", Blasky said.
