Without that temporary restraining order, Zeke would've likely been sidelined for the Cowboys' next six games, but now it appears as though he'll be eligible to play for the entire 2017 National Football League season.

The appeals process is unlikely to be a court priority and it is possible Elliott will play the entire season, as was the case when Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took his Deflategate suspension to the higher courts.

Whether or not the stay is granted, or if the case winds through the appeals court for months, NFL vice president of communications Joe Lockhart expects the league to ultimately prevail and Elliott to serve a six-game suspension over allegations of domestic violence against former girlfriend Tiffany Thompson. They cited inconsistent evidence.

"We are very pleased that Mr. Elliott will finally be given the opportunity to have an impartial decision-maker carefully examine the NFL's misconduct", Elliott's attorneys said in joint statement. Only the judges involved here have real access to the future of Elliott on the field, and even they probably don't know exactly how this is going to play out. It was the same for all 16 games past year. Subsequently, a judge granted Elliott and the NFLPA's request of a temporary hold after finding Elliott "did not receive a fair hearing" on the case.

The judge also faulted the league for what he saw as several efforts to hide the opinion of co-lead investigator Kia Roberts.

Thompson posted images of her bruised body on social media, but Elliott disputed the allegations, saying she sustained the injuries from a previous bar fight. A notice of appeal was also filed with the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. "Unfortunately, this cloud followed Elliott into the arbitration proceedings", Mazzant wrote.

The union used the ruling to reiterate its complaint from nearly three years ago. His biggest play was a 30-yard catch-and-run, easily the most open field he saw against one of the league's best run defenses a year ago. Carson Wentz was one of the top players taken overall in the 2016 NFL Draft and Dak Prescott was taken later as a backup.

"You'll forgive us tonight", commentator Cris Collinsworth said during the first half of the Cowboys' 19-3 victory, "if we just talk about him as a football player".

That court falls under the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which previous year backed Goodell's four-game suspension of New England quarterback Tom Brady in the "Deflategate" case. This set Elliott up to be allowed to play while the legal process continues.

"Brother, you gotta get your life together, man".

Leonard Fournette isn't your typical rookie running back. The investigation lasted more than a year, and Elliott immediately appealed the disciplinary ruling. The Columbus, Ohio, prosecutor who did not bring charges against Elliott also believed the alleged victim but suggested he did not have the evidence to pursue charges.
