Sources: Russell Westbrook inks 10-year extension with Jordan Brand

This past season, the 6-foot-3 star not only led a retooled OKC roster to the postseason after Durant's departure, but did so while averaging a triple-double - 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists - a first in the National Basketball Association since Oscar Robertson's feat in 1962.

According to an ESPN report, the Oklahoma City Thunder baller signed a 10-year extension with Jordan Brand, which is "the most lucrative total endorsement deal for a Jordan athlete to date".

The contract will be retroactively applied to this past season, in which Westbrook averaged 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 10.4 assists.

According to Nick DePaula of ESPN, part of the contract will include his own on-court performance Air Jordan signature shoe.

Westbrook won the 2017 MVP while playing in a hybird Air Jordan 30.5-the upper of the XXXI and the midsole and outsole of the XXX.

Russell Westbrook reportedly is locking in long-term with Jordan Brand. Jordan Brand has been notoriously frugal about handing out this kind of investment in the form of a signature and that makes sense within the shadow of, well, Michael Jordan himself.

It remains to be seen as to what Westbrook's new line of sneakers will resemble but this is huge news in the sneaker industry.

Terms of Westbrook's new Jordan deal were unknown at press time. As a fashion savant, Westbrook is sure to have significant input into what both products look like. After acquiring All-Star forward Paul George via trade, Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder are expected to compete for a Top-4 seed in the taxing Western Conference. He still has a five-year, $207 million extension on the table from his team. Waking up this morning fans learned Westbrook has finally put ink to paper on a 10-year extension. We're just pointing out an additional factor he now has to consider with his future.

Congrats to Russ on his new mind-blowing deal.
