The foundation will also hold its first two-day summit on October 31 to bring together "hundreds of civic leaders from all around the world to Chicago for a hands-on exchange of ideas".

Barack Obama is on an ambitious new mission: to bring people together to change not just their communities but also the world at large.

Obama announced The Obama Foundation Summit on a few platforms on Wednesday morning, including the above video put out by his Obama Foundation.

Obama, an infrequent Twitter user since the end of his presidency, quoted the Obama Foundation announcement and encouraged his followers to visit the site. "From the day we launched the Foundation, I told you that even as we experiment, even as we try and fail as humans do, there would be one constant in our work - our commitment to progress", Obama said. Want to join? While the Obamas will be inviting select guests from across the world, you can apply to attend and show your support.

In addition to the summit, the Foundation also recently announced its first-ever fellowship, aimed at supporting "civic innovators". No exact locations of where the Summit will be held in Chicago have been listed yet.

According to the Foundation's website, the objective of this event is to bring "hundreds of leaders from around the world will come together to exchange ideas, explore creative solutions to common problems, and experience civic art, technology, and music from around the world".

Former President Barack Obama has become increasingly vocal over the course of Donald Trump's presidency. "This is only the beginning-our programs will grow as we continue to listen and learn".
