Since SKT applied the solution to Korean network services last October, the company has received inquiries from foreign telecoms about partnerships, it said. The outcome of all these efforts by Airtel and SK Telecom will be exclusively focused on India. Both the firms will work together towards shaping up and enabling a telecom ecosystem for introduction of such advanced technologies in the Indian context.
Under the partnership, SKT will apply its AI network solution to the nationwide telecommunication network operated by Bharti Airtel across all regions of India by 2019.
SK Telecom announced on September 13 that SK Telecom president Park Jung-ho and Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of Bharti Airtel signed a partnership agreement at the Moscone Center in San Francisco of the U.S. where the Mobile World Congress (MWC) America was held.
"With SK Telecom's clear and undisputed leadership in technology, this is one partnership that will decisively change the game in India and put the country at par with the most advanced broadband nations in the world", Mittal said in the aforementioned statement. Presently, SK Telecom offers up to 500 MBPS 4G speed with their carrier aggregation technology.
"Strong partnerships have been a hallmark of Airtel's growth journey and we are proud to have always looked ahead to bring the latest technology to India".
The Indian operator, in its own terms, claims SK Telecom as the most advanced mobile broadband operator in the world.
The partnership will work across several areas, including developing bespoke software to dramatically improve network experience, leveraging advanced digital tools, including machine learning, big data and building customised tools to improve network planning based on every customer's device experience, Gurgaon-based Airtel stated in a release.
Specifically, the solution provides the automatic optimization of a network by artificial intelligence, real-time quality prediction through big data analysis, the detection of and countermeasure against abnormality signs in all areas of the network.
