The Battle Royale mode certainly looks like a full blown implementation, supporting up to 100 players who are dropped onto the giant map of Fortnite via a flying "battle bus". It is a successful formula and can lead to moments of tensions nearly unrivaled from other action sub-genres.
Today, Epic Games announced Fortnite Battle Royale, an all-new PvP mode coming to the action-building game Fortnite on September 26, available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac. Unsurprisingly, the victor will be the last combatant left standing. Now, it seems Epic Games wants a piece of the action, with the developer announcing a Battle Royale game mode that is heading to its early access title Fortnite.
Fortnite will also be available on discount this week at 25% off the Standard and Deluxe Founder's Packs. That means that the Standard package is $29.99 USD, Rare Starter Pack (with 8 heroes) is $44.99 USD and the Legendary Edition is $149.99 USD.
Epic are also keen to let players know that this new mode won't come at the expense of the traditional PvE gameplay that Fortnite is known for.
Do you plan to play Fortnite's Battle Royale mode?
The Battle Royale mode is now in public testing and players can try it out via the game's main menu. "A few months ago Epic's Unreal Tournament team began experimenting with the mode while the original Fortnite team kept updating the core game", said Donald Mustard, creative director at Epic Games.
