In the wake of that comment, Ball has expressed his gratitude for the rapper's purchase. Ball thanked the rap mogul in this short video. Lonzo, who was accompanied by a friend, was later asked if Jay's support would mean a future partnership between BBB and Roc Nation, to which Lonzo replied, "I just play basketball".
This comes after Jay explained why he ordered three pairs of ZO2 kicks.
"He may go about things wrong, he may have a big mouth. That man has a vision of his own", said Jay-Z with regards to Ball's father, Lavar Ball. He feels like he could move culture and his son got a big enough name and a big enough brand that they can do it?
"Nike had to start somewhere", he continued. Why do we get so upset when we, us as a culture, want to start our own s**t? That s-t is puzzling to me. I've seen some bad sneakers from Under Armour, I've seen some bad Michael Jordan sneakers.
Lonzo Ball's first signature shoe under Big Baller Brand, the ZO2, is scheduled to officially release in November of 2017. Joining rappers The Game, Nipsey Hussle and Slim Thug, as the only hip-hop acts to admit buying the shoes, the list of rappers will more than likely grow once Lonzo makes his professional debut.
