It has been loudly announced that Mr. Robot actor Rami Malek will be playing the role of Freddie Mercury in the upcoming biopic about the life of the legendary Queen vocalist. New Regency and Graham King's GK Films are the production companies. Taylor, considered one of the most influential rock drummers of all time, also composed at least one track on every Queen album and sang vocals. Mazzello got his start as Tim Murphy in the original Jurassic Park, and has appeared in films like The Social Network, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, The River Wild, Shadowlands, and Presumed Innocent. On the small screen, he's popped up in HBO's The Pacific and in a recurring role on Justified. Denis O'Sullivan, Arnon Milchan, and Jane Rosenthal are on board to executive produce. Kira Goldberg is overseeing the project for Twentieth Century Fox. He also made his feature directorial debut in 2016 with Undrafted, which he also wrote, produced and starred in.

The Fox/New Regency/GK Films production will go before the cameras this fall and is slated for US release December 25, 2018.
