Marc Marquez claimed a third straight pole position as he topped the timing screens on Saturday at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, beating the Ducatis to record a fastest lap time of 1:23.235, pipping Andrea Dovizioso by 0.144s.
It was the Italian's third win of the season after his back-to-back victories in Italy and Catalonia in June. Dovizioso and Lorenzo trailed by 0.144 and 0.386 seconds, respectively.
Chasing his fourth career championship, Marquez leads the standings and is 16 points clear of Dovizioso with seven races left.
The Spaniard took a minor tumble in the final practice session prior to getting back on his bike and upping the pace and there was no halting the defending champion's momentum as he took pole ahead of Ducati duo Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo. The next race is the British GP at Silverstone on August 27.
With Lorenzo dropping to fourth position halfway through the race, Marquez and Dovizioso swapped the lead several times until Pedrosa caught up with the leading pair with eight laps to go.
It was Ducati's second straight victory on the Red Bull Ring since the Austrian GP returned to the calendar previous year. Now riding for Suzuki, Iannone came 11th in Sunday's race.
