Following a string of low scores, Yuvraj Singh was on Sunday dropped from the India squad for the upcoming five-match one-day global series and one-off T20I against Sri Lanka, starting August 20.

Yuvraj Singh has been dropped from India's limited-overs squad against Sri Lanka. All rounder Yuvraj Singh and batsman Rishabh Pant have been dropped, while in-form Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have been rested.

With Rohit back - and named vice-captain - it is likely that Ajinkya Rahane, Man of the Series in India's ODI series win in the West Indies, will slot back into the middle order where he last batted during the tour of Australia in January 2016.

Kuldeep Yadav, who was a part of India's team that toured West Indies recently has also been retained. However, he led India A to victory in a tri-series which involved hosts South Africa A and Afghanistan A. Young Manish Pandey returns to the squad. The Selectors have also given rest Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav, with Mumbai fast-bowler Shardul Thakur being given a chance. The second and third matches will be played at Pallekele on 24 and 27 August followed by the final two games at Colombo on 31 and 3 September.

Team India selectors have announced the squad for the ODIs and one-off T20 against Sri Lanka to be played later this month.

Manish Pandey, Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel and KL Rahul have come back into the squad.
