Ant first confirmed he was checking into rehab to battle depression and his dependence of prescription drugs two months ago.
Dec's presenting partner said he was rushed to hospital at 5am after the incident.
"I was at the point where anything - prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs - I would take".
Ant was not diagnosed as an alcoholic although he admitted he has taken a break from the booze and he plans to go without for a little longer, but that he is looking forward to having a pint - even joking about the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
"I was insane. It sends you crazy". It sends you insane.
Ant began taking prescription damaged his knee in 2014. "It was to the point of hearing things, seeing things in the garden and still the pain was getting worse". "I was depressed through the whole thing because I was in pain and immobile".
However for the first time in three years he is now clean of all drugs, and has lost a stone since being admitted into rehab in June.
"When I first went in I was so bad I was just happy to have someone looking after us".
"I was moved on to tramadol, which is where the real problems started".
The star claimed he didn't think it was a problem, but added "You just keep taking them... they're very hard to come off".
He admits despite warnings on the packet he "didn't take them as seriously as I should have".
Ant said he visited a number of independent private doctors to get more tramadol prescribed.
"I knew there was a dance routine involved".
Ant's hospital dash finally made him see sense and he went to rehab.
The couple had been together for eleven years prior to their nuptials, having met on the Smash Hits tour in 1994 - with Ant performing alongside Dec as PJ and Duncan, and Lisa in pop band Deuce.
It is expected that McPartlin will return to screens in November, when he will host the next installment of I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.
